MGM Grand

FORMA was retained to design the Elevator Lobby Fountain, a highly visible amenity within the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. In the Art Deco style, this 12 foot high custom fiberglass fountain has a faux-copper finish with three tiers of waterfall as it conceals an existing 4 foot diameter structural column in the middle of the lobby. The leaf pattern is stylish yet simplistic, allowing the water to course through its interlocking forms as part of a “wet wall” effect. The exciting challenge was not only to create a beautiful water sculpture as the focal point of the lobby, but also to overcome existing technical constraints such as utilities, waterproofing, HVAC, etc., with innovative and creative solutions. FORMA’s team of designers and technical experts met these challenges and created this masterpiece which embodies the aesthetic and technical solutions.
