Heritage Fields – Great Park Neighborhood, Irvine
With the disposition of the El Toro Marine Base to the City of Irvine, this property was originally known as Heritage Fields. It later became named the Great Park Neighborhoods, a major regional destination in the heart of Irvine. In the initial planning process, the development areas were divided into four quadrants. FORMA was assigned the Northeast quadrant which involved the option of a golf course, option of a cemetery, and a potential lake. Other considerations were the incorporation of a wildlife corridor, interface with the Great Park, and the preservation, utilization and moving of mature heritage trees located on the site.
